Ayurveda: How to get rid of bloating, constipation and excess weight
About one in three people in the world suffers from any digestive upsets. Ayurveda tells us that the solution to this problem is not contained in the next bottle of pills, but in proper nutrition and combination of products.
We all know that healthy, wholesome foods benefit our body. However, to pile on a plate a whole bunch of all kinds of useful products indiscriminately is not the best option.
Lentils with fish, along with sweet potatoes and goat cheese, topped with all the avocados with herbs, will bring heaviness in the stomach and lethargy to anyone, despite the fact that all these products in themselves are very useful.
So for blooming health and a happy flat tummy, you need to not only eat healthy foods, but also combine them correctly
The order in which combinations we eat different types of products, as well as their quantity, determines how well our body digests and assimilates the necessary nutrients.
The better we digest and assimilate food, the less likely it is the formation of toxic substances and the accumulation of excess fat in the body, the less we are attracted to unhealthy food.
For various types of foods, absolutely specific digestive enzymes necessary for these foods are required. Anyone who has studied biology at school knows this.
But, despite this, as a society, we seem to have lost sight of the vital importance of this fact. Namely: by absorbing many different types of foods in one meal, we require our digestive glands to produce many different digestive enzymes at the same time.
For example, using a banana along with dairy products (such as a banana-milk shake) can significantly slow down digestion, change the intestinal flora, lead to the formation of toxins, and also cause nasal congestion, colds, coughs and various allergies.
If you think carefully, it becomes clear that our distant ancestors did not have the opportunity to combine many different food groups at one meal. In those days, any food included no more than two or three kinds of products. Now we are eating “in one sitting” at least 6-7 different types of foods and mercilessly overloading our digestive system.
If all this seems too complicated and confusing, then here's a small “cheat sheet” for product compatibility according to Ayurveda:
Avoid combining milk or yogurt with sour fruits and citrus fruits. Yes, this means that fruit yogurt is not considered a “healthy breakfast” from the perspective of a healer practicing Ayurveda. Eat them separately.
Do not eat fruit with potatoes or other starchy foods. Fructose (fruit sugar) and other sugars are digested very quickly, while it takes much longer to digest starches. In this case, the sugar will not be digested properly.
Melons must be eaten at all separately from everything, or not at all.
Try to eat fruit on an empty stomach - so you get the most nutrients.
Avoid eating cooked foods with raw foods.
Do not eat meat protein with milk protein.
Milk and fermented dairy products should not be consumed together. The action of hydrochloric acid in the stomach leads to coagulation of milk. Therefore, Ayurveda does not recommend the use of milk in combination with sour fruits, yogurt, sour cream, cheese, and also with fish.
Very cold drinks should not be taken with food or immediately after eating, as this reduces the energy of agni and slows digestion. Conversely, warm or cool water, drunk in small sips with meals, will aid digestion.
