Lower back pain for pregnant
Despite the fact that the end result is excellent, nine months of pregnancy can be a difficult test for expectant mothers. While women are endowed with the ability to produce offspring, pregnancy causes hormonal changes, which often lead to many health complications.
Lower back pain during pregnancy is quite common and is the result of the weight of the baby growing in the womb, changes in the mother’s body and hormonal changes. Read on to understand the causes of lower back pain during pregnancy, its symptoms and treatment.
Causes of lower back pain for pregnant:
There are several causes and causes of lower back pain during pregnancy. The most obvious and common cause of back pain during pregnancy is an increase in the weight of the baby in the womb. It is known that this, combined with an increase in weight in expectant mothers, increases pressure on the upper back.
Most likely, this will happen during the third semester. In addition to weight gain in both the mother and the baby, the late stage of pregnancy also causes hormonal changes. In the last stages of pregnancy, certain hormones enter the body, preparing it for delivery.
This usually leads to weakening of muscles and ligaments. As a result of the weakening of muscles and ligaments, the back and pelvis become unstable, and the muscles exert more effort to maintain body balance.
This tension on all major muscles, including the upper back, can often lead to pain and muscle cramps. Another cause of back pain is an increase in the size of the mammary glands, which put pressure on the upper back. Although all this is inevitable and painkillers are not recommended, simple exercises and precautions can relieve pain. Read on to find out more.
Precautions and treatment:
Fortunately, the expectant mother can take certain steps to avoid excessive back pain. Some methods may even provide relief during bouts of discomfort and pain in the upper back.
1. Correct posture while standing:
While pregnant mothers like to relax throughout their pregnancy, this is not entirely possible or desirable. There may be times when the expectant mother may need to stand for a long period of time. Under such circumstances, proper posture should be ensured, which creates a minimum load on the upper back. Maintaining a wide posture with a spread leg and even distribution of body weight on both sides can greatly help.
2. Correct posture during sleep:
Long hours of leaning back during pregnancy can cause pain. It is best to sleep on your side and thus maintain a safe and neutral position. The right amount of pillows will also ensure comfortable placement of the neck and spine during sleep. High pillows definitely not.
3. Correct posture while sitting:
You need to maintain proper posture while sitting. The knees should never be higher than the legs, so it is better to avoid reclining chairs and sofas. A chair with good lumbar support or lumbar pillows can be very comfortable during pregnancy.
It is better to keep both legs grounded and shoulder width apart. This ensures even weight distribution and minimal back strain. When the lower back is well cushioned and supported, the upper back is stress free and relaxed.
Massage and exercises:
Physiotherapist consultation and regular massage can help during pregnancy. Repeated treatments, such as hot and cold packs, can help during pain attacks.
