When to stop drinking water?
Everyone living on our planet knows that without water there is no life. We need it no less than air, sleep, and food. And a few days it is impossible to live without her life-giving power! However, there are situations when drinking water is highly undesirable.
What are these situations and what is the danger of water consumption? Let's try to figure it out together.
1. It is strictly forbidden to continue drinking water if you have already drunk a lot of it.
This situation is not common, but it does happen. Excessive amounts of life-giving moisture should be avoided. You can hurt yourself with this!
One of the health problems that can lead to high fluid intake is hyponatremia. The habit of drinking a lot becomes the cause of an imbalance of electrolytes in the human body. The cells of the body from a supersaturation with water swelling occurs. A particular danger in this case threatens the brain. There is a high risk of swelling.
Hyponatremia is especially prone to athletes who consume a lot of fluids during and after training. The problem concerns primarily those who already have abnormalities in the work of the liver, kidneys or heart. From heavy drinking, swelling of the cells occurs, causing problems like nausea, vomiting, convulsions. In rare cases, even death is possible.
Even a healthy person should not exceed the permissible consumption of drinking water, so as not to face a deterioration in health. It is far from always worthwhile to adhere to the rule of drinking eight glasses of water per day, it is better to listen to your body and the advice of competent doctors.
2. You should limit your water intake with "clean" urine.
To understand if you are not overdoing drinking, just look into the toilet. The best indicator of the state of health and sufficiency of water consumption is urine, in particular its color.
Ideally, it should resemble lemonade with its hue. This means that you consume the optimal amount of water for your body.
If the color of the urine is too light with a pale yellow hue, you drink too much! In this case, water consumption should be reduced.
If the color of the urine is too dark, on the contrary, increase, your body is clearly not enough fluid.
3. Do not drink water while eating and immediately after it.
Nutritionists recommend drinking water on an empty stomach, on the eve of a meal. This will help reduce the amount of calories you eat. Following this habit, you will eat less, saturate faster, because the liquid drunk before it, already took part of the place in the stomach.
Drinking while eating is highly undesirable. Water will dilute the gastric juice, which will negatively affect digestion processes. The habit of drinking during breakfast, lunch or dinner is fraught with such unpleasant consequences as a feeling of heaviness, bloating, belching.
It is not recommended to drink immediately after eating. The liquid will stretch the overfilled stomach even more, it will slow down the digestive processes. It is best to drink tea or other drinks half an hour after eating. When eating dry food, you can take small sips of water to help moisturize the oral cavity and eliminate the feeling of dryness.
4. You can not drink in the process of intense sports training.
In addition to hyponatremia, drinking water during sports can cause other health problems. Excess moisture is fraught with edema, problems in the functioning of the genitourinary system. In addition, when large volumes of fluid arrive, the heart experiences an additional load during training. This can be dangerous for those who suffer from problems in the cardiovascular system.
It is recommended to drink no more than half a liter of fluid an hour before playing sports.
During the classes themselves, only a few sips are permissible to moisturize the oral cavity and eliminate dry mouth.
After playing sports, you can drink a couple of glasses of water to restore water balance.
In addition to the need to run to the toilet at night, the habit of drinking at night is fraught with edema - both internal and external. If you do not want to see bags under your eyes and a swollen face in the morning, take the habit of drinking throughout the day, drinking most of the daily volume of fluid intake in the first half. And before leaving for a night's rest, take only a few sips if you are thirsty or you feel a dry mouth.
As you can see, not always more is better. This also applies to the drinking regime. Do not exceed the recommended norms of life-giving moisture to always be healthy and beautiful!
