What is bulimia sick
One of the main reasons that contribute to the fact that a person is gaining excess weight is overeating. The people call it gluttony. But in medicine, the tendency to overeat is considered not as a habit of eating deliciously, but as a disease that has a name that is not quite clear to most of us - bulimia.
This disease has an antipode - anorexia, characterized by a complete lack of appetite and excessive exhaustion of a person. But bulimia and anorexia have one important similarity - both appear on the nervous system. In fact, it turns out that the patient of the psychotherapist "programs" himself to develop the disease with the help of his own auto-suggestion. For a more detailed analysis, we focus only on bulimia.
There are three points to watch out for:
The desire to eat excess at the table. In this case, the taste of food is not paid attention.
A regular desire to lose weight is not a method of restricting oneself in food, but a method of physical and sports activities that only increase the desire to eat well.
Daily strict control over their weight without taking into account the amount of food eaten. Simply put, a person does not realize that he has a certain amount of food in his stomach at the time of weighing.
Bulimia is generally not a digestive disorder. Moreover, many bulimics have apparently quite normal weight for their growth and physique, but they are characterized by excessive consumption of food. In fact, they constantly eat something. It even becomes strange, where does it all go then?
Overweight is gained only in situations where too frequent small snacks turn into natural gluttony with a constant feeling of hunger. That is, bulimia nervosa with food dependence is already pronounced. Here, no diet will help, since it is not necessary to be treated by a nutritionist, but by a psychotherapist. After consultation with a doctor, as a rule, ambulatory treatment is immediately prescribed.
The method of cognitive-behavioral therapy is used. The basis of this method is the patient’s desire to be responsible for his health. Using various methods of self-hypnosis (of course, under the supervision of a physician), one can noticeably reduce the level of excitability of the nervous system when looking at food with a decrease in the desire to eat everything.
The effectiveness of this method is quite high. It differs from pharmacological agents in that there is only a psychological effect on the body with a gradual consolidation in the form of a habit of “restrictive” food measures.
If bulimia has not gone too far, then after consulting a doctor you can get rid of it yourself. Mainly due to normalization of their nervous system.
It is noticed that in a state of depression a person seeks distraction from gloomy thoughts in food. If such situations are repeated often, then the desire is formed to "treat" their bad mood with food. So with the independent treatment of bulimia, the main attention should be paid to your nerves and any factors contributing to the onset of depression should be excluded.
The aforesaid is also related to excessive emotions, which lead to nervous exhaustion with the desire to constantly “recharge” with food, since it creates a background of imaginary calm and emotional balance.
